If you ever think of running the beat tire in the UTV business, go and give the MRT tire guys a call, let me tell you one hell of a tire, I ran the 32s sticky’s at KOH this year and man those tires are bad ass in the rocks and desert! I hit some gnarly stuff out there and at the end of the day those tires still held up! Huge thank you to MRT - Motoracetire.com guys for their support! ... See MoreSee Less

The toughest off road race in America was tough on us this year! Ultra4 Racing King of The Hammers was a blast as always. We qualified in the middle of the pack and started off passing cars left and right right off the bat until we broke a wheel at Race mile 30. Stopped to change it and our jack collapsed. We had to dig a hole to get the tire on and it took longer than it should have. We got back up to speed in the desert and when we got to the notches it was all plugged up with rollovers and guys with problems. I punched another tire taking a difficult line to get around the blockages. We only had one spare that we had already used. Had to run 7-10ish miles an hour for about 15 miles until we ran into another racer that had problems and I stopped and asked him if I could buy his spare tire, he let us use it and we dropped it at the pit one where we picked up our extra spare. This 2 hour dilemma put us way back potentially last besides guys that we’re already broken and out. It almost seemed like our race was over rolling through the desert dragging the trailing arm and hub in the rocks and sand. We got through that and realized we had no brakes, thinking a rock got in the caliper and kicked the brake pad out. We kept pushing and were doing well but every rock section we got to was bottlenecked 10 cars deep. Not being able to stop well added to the challenge as well! Sometimes we were sitting for 30/45 minutes just to have a shot at the obstacle then onto the next one. Hardly feels like racing when it starts to get that clogged up. This is why it’s important to get a good starting position and not have problems like we did! We finally made it to race mile 138/139 after our last pit stop. Had all of our checkpoints completed but one. A wire on the horn was causing a short and blowing a fuse that also powered our 4wd. I found the fuse that was blown but never could find why it was blowing. I would replace the fuse and then it would pop again, we did our best to try to finish but basically ran out of fuses to replace it with. Outer Limits is a section that usually a winch is required not even worth trying in 2wd. Other racers were broken all throughout the canyon and we were close to our time limit. That’s all she wrote for this year! We only had 15/20 ish miles to the finish. Sometimes you just have bad luck no matter how prepared you are! Without the tire/wheel issues we would not have had so many bottlenecks and issues getting through the rock sections and could have gotten a finish. We will push on and hope for better luck in the series this year! We had a good time and it was great to see everyone. Thank you to my pit crew Jason Welch Abby Stegeman Todd Cook Ben Glover! You guys were spot on!! Special thanks to Jason for your hard work and dedication. Couldn’t do it without you.
